About Me

Support that meets you where you are.

Kristin Chapman, LISW-CP • Founder & Therapist

Healing begins in a space where you feel safe, understood, and supported. I am a trauma-informed licensed therapist with more than 10 years of experience working with children, teens, and adults navigating trauma, anxiety, depression, grief, and stress.

I am nationally rostered in Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT) and have completed basic training in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR). My approach combines evidence-based treatment with compassionate, personalized care tailored to each person's needs.

My goal is to help you feel more grounded, develop practical coping skills, and move toward meaningful healing and lasting emotional wellness.

What you can expect.

Therapy is paced with attention to safety, readiness, and your individual goals.

Understanding Trauma

Trauma can affect the whole person.

Trauma responses are not a sign of weakness. They are ways the mind and body may respond after overwhelming or deeply distressing experiences.

Responses look different

People can respond to trauma in many ways, and not everyone who experiences trauma develops post-traumatic stress disorder.

Effects may show up in daily life

Trauma-related stress may affect sleep, concentration, mood, relationships, physical well-being, and a person's sense of safety.

Children and adults may respond differently

Age, development, support systems, prior experiences, and the nature of the event can shape how trauma reactions appear.

Recovery is possible

Evidence-based, trauma-focused treatments can help people process difficult experiences, cope with stress, and feel safer and more grounded.

Trauma-Focused Care

EMDR & TF-CBT

Evidence-based approaches can help children, adolescents, and adults process difficult experiences and develop healthier ways of coping.

🧠

EMDR

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is a psychotherapy approach used to help people process distressing memories and experiences. Treatment is structured and paced with attention to safety and readiness.

84%–90% Two small, early randomized studies of adults who had experienced a single trauma reported that 84%–90% no longer met PTSD diagnostic criteria after three 90-minute EMDR sessions. These study-specific findings may not apply to every person or situation. View research

TF-CBT

Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT) is designed primarily for children and adolescents affected by trauma. It combines trauma-informed care with practical skills for managing thoughts, emotions, and behaviors.

79% vs. 54% In a multisite randomized trial of children with abuse-related PTSD symptoms, 79% of those receiving TF-CBT no longer met full PTSD criteria after treatment, compared with 54% receiving child-centered therapy. View research

These percentages describe outcomes in specific research studies and do not predict any one person’s response to treatment. Treatment plans and results vary by individual.
